Meeting Riki & Brooklyn was a bit happenstance, as they found my photography on Google, which does not happen quite often. Both of them are in the military, and they needed this elopement to happen sooner than was initially expected. So naturally, the two chose Big Sur as it is one of the most iconic places to elope!
Riki & Brooklyn got ready in a cute and quaint AirBNB on the coast of Pebble Beach. I arrived and brought them coffee to start out their day – because how else are you to start out your elopement day than without coffee?
I captured some detail photos of her dress, shoes, little moments that may have gotten forgotten in the future. Once they were finished putting their finishing touches on, the two had their first touch right outside the AirBNB. They went back to back, without seeing each other, and read their vows privately. This moment was truly intimate and special. Riki & Brooklyn explained their love to each other and gratefulness to walk through life together. These vows brought me to tears! I felt so blessed to be able to share in these lifelong memories with them, and appreciated their vulnerability with me to be able to capture these moments
We made our way to Big Sur. As we parked, the family members were preparing for the ceremony – even their furry friend was in attendance. The two still hadn’t seen each other in their wedding ensemble, and wanted that first look to be as Brooklyn made her graceful entrance walking down the aisle – a path in the grass along the coast. The rings were presented, and they said I do, as they professed their love in the most beautiful place in California, with the people they love most to witness.
After the ceremony, we captured family photos and began couple’s portraits. Something amazing about an elopement, is you get the BEST couple portraits in your day – you have a flexible time line, and can take your time in different spots in locations to capture exactly what you what.
The sun was setting, as I finished the last shots of them popping champagne. This seemed like a true celebration of a love story, embellishing the stunning coastline that fell behind them. Riki & Brooklyn returned to their AirBNB to finish the evening and continue spending time with their loved ones.
This day was a beautiful reminder of how with an elopement you can have so much flexibility and make your day perfect down to the details. It is a gift to be able to pour your soul into what exactly you want to do. I am absolutely blessed to do what I love.
